Facts are facts, Noles. Politics is zero-sum. And it ain't beanbag, as a prominent Republican used to say. I'm just dissapointed that Lieberman (who I voted for in '00, big surprise, and who I alwasy sort of liked) is reacting this way. Anger is not an appealing trait on TV. If he had accepted what happened, endorsed the guy who beat him, it would widen Lamont's appeal beyond the blog crowd. As it is, Lamont will still probably win because Joe has become so unappealing and the Republican in the race is an empty suit.

The general election is a much different kettle of fish than a primary where the Kos crazies can have an impact. But I may have to root for Ned. The George McGovern wing of the party is so much more entertaining.

While most recent polls show Sen. Lieberman could win as an independent against Mr. Lamont, what they are probably measuring is his name recognition. As the campaign continues and as Bush & Cheney identify themselves with Sen. Lieberman's effort, those Democrats,independents and Republican who want to say "no" to the Bush agenda will say no to Sen. Lieberman, too. Mayor Bloomberg's cash, however, could help Sen. Lieberman a lot.

Predictions: Lieberman will win as an independant. Bloomberg, if he ever runs, will go as a Dem. The Dems will never ever ever win while still eating their own. The rest of the country is not lockstep with the tri-state area. Dem strategists need to travel a little bit. They like to talk about coups and revolts, but the map says almost everything: the geographical majority of the country think Dems are retards. Not that Republicans aren't retards; they are. Dems just strain themselves.
