During World War II, the FBI's J. Edgar Hoover was in the habit of driving the UK's intel community nuts by making photo-op arrests of German spies the second they were uncovered on American soil -- instead of listening into their transmissions and feeding them bogus information, which was the British way of dealing with uncovered spies.

Now sixty years later, BushCo has forced Blair's government -- over the strong objections of the UK's intel community -- to spring the liquid-bomber trap far too early, thus allowing over half of the terrorists to escape. All apparently so Bush could pump up his ratings enough to keep Republican candidates like Mark Kennedy (R-Minnesota) from fleeing his embrace and his record during the 2006 election season.

Unlike the Current US Administration, I bet the British actually got Court Warrants for any Surveillance. They're notorious for actually following the law, not breaking it because they're too lazy to fill out paper work.

Actually, they do not need court warrants. Home Secretary can order wiretapping at anytime. No need for time-wasting and filing paperwork. I doubt they are lazy, though.

they call me bruce:

Also, what about Mission Impossible? The resturant scene.

____________
rory: 11:36am:

"And what about those illegal intrusive security checks at the airport?"

If you don't like the way the country is run, there are other countries that may comply with your wishes. I hear flights are always available on a daily basis.

Grow up. Look at the world as it is instead of how you wish it were.

Do you think that Richard Nixon was the first Water Gate? Or, was he the first to get caught?

Do you think America has remained a supper power because America plays nicey nice. Wrong. Many things have happened that were illegal. They were a necessary evil to maintain the countries way of life.

Go back to your great grandmother's era. Switch board telephones and party lines. You think people weren't listening in then, people of all levels and class. Do you think that it is possible that nosey neighbors listened in on occasion to make sure Victorian morals remained the status quo. Was slavery a form of Communism? Yes. It was legal wasn't it? It served a purpose. It was wrong, but, it built the end justified the means. The USA is wealthy becasue of slavery, financially and archetectually. It allowed America to attain a mass of wealth to continue building to this day. The USA has always done things, like as you say, "illegal intrusive security checks at the airport?" Does John Edgar Hoover ring a bell? The FBI keeps a surveillance on whomever they please. Get realistic. Some things are necessary.

What do you think cell phones are for? Phone companies and local law enforcement knows where a person is at all times, via the signals. Metro Cards also. NYC knows your movement throughout the day. Your social securtiy number is a form of an "illegal intrusive security checks," surveillance. "They" are always watching you.

If you have a better way of confiscating information, speak up. Other wise, shut up.

Where are ACLU and New York Jazeera? It may be possible that WIRETAPPING has been used! Maybe even FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS have been MONITORED!
This can't continue.
