Fifth Anniversary Plans for September 11

The city announced the official September 11 anniversary plans. This year, spouses, partners and significant others will read names of victims after the first moment of silence at 8:46AM (when the North Tower was hit). Families will be able to descend into the site and leave flowers. Three other moments of silence - at 9:03AM, when the South Tower was hit; at 9:59AM, when the South Tower fell; and at 10:29AM, when the North Tower fell - will also punctuate the ceremony, which is supposed to conclude at noon, but the site will open to families until 3PM. And at sundown, the Tribute in Light, located at West and Morris Streets, will return.

In previous years, readers were siblings (last year), parents and grandparents (2003), and children (2002).
