- Marlins 4, Mets 1: Pedro Martinez was strong in his 2nd start since coming off the disabled list, but the Mets offense was unable to offer him much run support off of Dontrelle Willis and the Marlins. Pedro pitched six innings and only allowed four hits and one run. The Marlins ended a 1-1 tie in the 8th inning with Miguel Cabrera's bases clearing triple.
While the Mets may have lost against the Marlins, they won big time off the field as they signed contract extension until at least 2010 with Jose Reyes. The four-year contract is worth $23.25 million with a team option for 2011. By signing the contract, the Mets avoided salary arbitration in the coming off season. Next up for Omar Minaya - signing David Wright.
- Yankees 8, Blue Jays 1: For the first time since April in 1999, the Yankees swept the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium. Cory Lidle, acquired Sunday in a trade with Philadelpha, picked up his first win with his new team yesterday afternoon. Lidle pitched only six innings in the victory, but Joe Torre said after the game that Lidle could have pitched eight or nine innings if it wasn't so hot. Bobby Abreu, the "bigger" name in the trade with the Phillies, was 3-5 with 2 runs scored in the win.
- Cyclones 9, Tigers 2: The Cyclones continued their hot streak, winning their 11th game in a row. The win streak has put them in a tie for first with the Staten Island Yankees.
- Yankees 4, Lake Monsters 1: The win helps the Baby Bombers keep pace with the sizzling Cyclones.

Tien, they're giving saves to starters now?
How does a starter save a game?
Lidle's a scab, and there's too many A-holes and hug heads in that clubhouse for the right chemistry. Plus Craig Wilson? Please. Refer to #69 here:

no, they haven't won...minaya said that there was still a risk factor...how is it a win if they are expected to sign him? plus that 11 million option wont look so good in 2010...
i've been reading the idiot sanchez post and kept up with everyone's comments...tien, were you drunk when you posted that?

anyways umm i hate the white sox...and their schedule is too easy
Hey Tim N, I guess that $90 million extra (and this was before the Abreu trade)on the Yank's payroll was worth the WHOLE 2 GAMES better record than the Mets. lol.
