Just to address those "elderly who truck in from Long Island", Brooklyn is technically a part of Long Island. I'm pretty sure neither "Vinny" nor Gammy needed a "B" or a "T" to get there.

The only thing better than Luger's bacon is eating Luger's bacon off the thighs of one of those bikini chicks from Little Odessa. Mouth Watering good times!

They've always treated us well. We have at least two family dinners there a year. When we sat in the family area it was much better, something about sitting with other tables having their family dinner.
Sure you'll get some wannabe's but that's what my sister in law from Sweden wanted to see.

"...a big night in the city"? You are aware that Luger's is in Brooklyn, right? And that surly waiter thing is overblown - our waiter was great on NYE, on a night that I'm sure is filled with stressful service.

HR,

The waiter probably has attitude toward YOU because you're a schmuck. You human paraquat.

And what makes you think Luger's prime was 1970? They opened in 1887. Peaked at age 83?

luger's sucks. it's so past prime. i don't get the whole "intentional surly waiter" thing. do i have to tip normally to get a waiter with the attitute? How that is party of any charm is beside me. There are so many better places to get great quality steaks in the city. There's a reason the place is filled with B&T, the vinny's from bay ridge and the elderly who truck in from Long Island for a big night in the city. they just don't know any different. It's not 1970 anymore.

Jesus Cristo,

No line to get in at lunch, especially in the summer when things are slower. Reservations are a must at dinner year round but they only serve the burger until 3pm. The burger is $8.50 and the bacon is $2.75 a slab. Way cheaper just a couple years back, but still totally worth it.

I had my first Luger's bacon this past New Year's Eve. Yes, it's as good as it looks and totally worth it. After that meal, however, I had to detox off red meat for about a month.

Old-school New Yorkers will tell you that the best way to enjoy Luger's bacon is to fold up into one of their onion rolls and then slap some sauce on them. If you want, order the tomato and onion salad, and throw those on the roll as well.

THAT'S a slice of bacon?!?! It looks like it's the size of some steaks by themselves. I think I had a heart attack just looking it. I'm sooooo going to Peter Luger's.
