THEATER: Repertorio Español mostly does plays, but it has good reason for a change of pace: Eladio Cintron's ...Gardel, el Musical, a bio of 1920s Argentinean tango phenom and film star Carlos Gardel, whose life ended tragically young. The company's website notes that Gardel inspired a cultish following that continues today; it's probably safe to say that he's not quite such a legend here, but with luck Miguel Ramos' performance will exude enough energy and charisma to make us see what we've been missing. The show is in Spanish with simultaneous English translation available for those who don't agree beforehand that music, and the fiery tango in particular, are a near-universal language. - Mallory Jensen
