Gothamist Band of the Week: Trick and the Heartstrings

trick.jpg

Trick and the Heartstrings are: Alexander Gedeon, Leif Young Huckman, Texas Peter Hale

Now that were hitting the trying times of summer, there aught to be some music that compliments all this grit and sweat. Perhaps it's just the timing of listening to them over the last couple days, but they just seem to be the perfect band for this week. Everything about these guys just drips summer, from the funky guitar riffs to the throwback vocals. We are especially excited to see that they'll be playing our favorite summer spot this Sunday at Mccarren pool along with The Detroit Cobras. If there ever was an official soundtrack to concrete, dodgeball and slip n' slide, this would be it.

Have yourself a listen at their myspace page.

welcome to gothamist band of the week

"aught"? Who edits this guy?

I tried to listen, I swear....but really? Should I just send you a tape of my 8th grade audition to be in my town's production of Annie? Cuz that sounds like it might make the cut here. And I sound like a man trying to sing like a woman trying to sing like a man.
