One I especially admired was Crossing Arizona.” - Karen WIlson

THEATER: Last night, the Signature Theatre Co. started previews of Seven Guitars, the 1940s portion of August Wilson's 10-part Pittsburgh play cycle. It follows seven members of that city's African-American community in 1948, all troubled but all striving, their lives intersecting here and there. Thanks to Time Warner grant money, tickets are only $10, so if you haven't yet seen Wilson's work, it's a great time to start; Signature will be presenting two more of his plays this season, all also at that blessedly sane price. - Mallory Jensen

READINGS: McNally Robinson is truly a New York City bookstore, offering this reading in the timeliest of manners - from their website: "August is when New York's psychiatrists and psychologists take their vacations, and when their patients find themselves without sympathetic hears to turn to. So this group of writers is coping by discussing its preoccupations in public. Reading will be Susan Shapiro, author of Five Men Who Broke My Heart and Lighting Up; Ruth Ellenson, author of Modern Jewish Girl's Guide to Guilt; David Goodwillie, author of Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time ; and Harvey Shapiro, author of Sights Along the Harbor. Reading, discussion, signing, and wine." Should be interesting! - Krissa Corbett Cavouras

wasn't Tosca postponed in light of the heat?

user-pic

There are no mentions of Tosca on the Park Dept's website, what's up with that? Is it really postponed?
