This letter is an absolute insult to us. It is the opposite of an apology.

"Con Ed must be completely re-organized, starting at the top."

They did. Eugene Mcgrath was the former Chairman. Kevin Burke just replaced him as the new chairman this year.

Tons of changes from the top down since May:

How about pro-rating their bills, Kevey? Talk is cheap, spoiled food is expensive.

I was almost killed about two years ago by an exploding Con Ed manhole cover. Remember those?

Not one "sorry" or "regret" or "apologize" in there. Trying to use positive words to spin a completely screwed situation is kind of like spritzing perfume into a clogged toilet bowl in a dive in the lower east side.

No dice.

Three days ago I talked to a few ConEd line workers and asked them "What the hell is going on in Queens?" I was drunk at the time, and this a completely unreliable and unverified statement by someone that just climbs into holes, but he told me that ConEd faces massive penalties (along the lines of $10mn) for preventable power outages like when main trunks run into "linkages" with secondary trunks. If execs apparently make a decision to shut down power to save a whole grid, they're personally screwed, so they just let the whole thing go kablooey. This is pure hearsay and speculation. I'm just telling you what I heard from a ConEd lineman.
