Bands, this is your reminder! You have less than a week to get yourself signed up for CMJ 2006. July 31st is your last shot to submit an application, so get going. (The CMJ site has been down for a couple of days, but you have to apply through Sonicbids anyway).
This year the festival starts on Halloween and runs through November 4th. Our hope: some fun afterparties with Halloween themes. And our prediction for this year: some blogger showcases.
We, personally, love CMJ time of year. Musicians are swarming the streets, out of towners are taking band photos in front of graffitied walls and there's lots of running around to see every show we can possibly cram into our schedule. The weather is cooling off, the Fader house is usually just around the corner from us, serving free drinks and music all day long, and we buy lots of cute
band t-shirts.
Alright, it's still months away, but bands: sign up! And check out last years coverage and some of our coverage from 2004.

CMJ is a bloated dinosaur, and the best thing bands can do is stay far away from this pretensious mess of annoying schlock.
you don't have to submit via sonicbids.. just to let you know.. there is an application on the site.. sonicbids is not worth it in my opinion
CMJ is not worth it period. No different then the MEANY Fest, only it's bands with money, publicists and/or label backing.
anybody have the link to sign up without using sonicbids? much appreciated...
