Last Night’s Action: The Locals Go Extra Innings

2006_04_smetslogo.jpg-Mets 4 Reds 2: Tom Glavine struggled through 6 and 1/3 innings, but was bailed out by some excellent relief pitching from Chad Bradford and the Mets used three doubles in the tenth to beat Cincinnati. New York now comes home to face the Astros this weekend.

-Toronto 5 Yankees 4: In golf they call it the “yips”, Yankees’ fans just call it the “Knoblachs”. Whatever you call it, A-Rod seems to have it as he committed another throwing error, this one helping the Blue Jays have a four-run sixth inning. New York tied the game in the eighth, but Vernon Wells blasted a walk-off home run off of Mariano Rivera to give Toronto the win in eleven innings.

-Staten Island 2 Williamsport 1: The Baby Bombers played a tidy two-hour and sixteen-minute game, which was in contrast to…

-Oneonta 6 Brooklyn 1 (26 Innings!!): The longest game in league history came to an end when the Tigers broke through against Cyclones outfielder Mark Wright for five runs in the 26th.
