The SummerScreen Series

SummerScreen (you know, like sunscreen) is The L Magazine's addition to the already successful summer of McCarren Park Pool events.

The outdoor film series will take place every Tuesday (starting next week) through the end of August. The films start at sundown, and before that...there are bands! Oh, and it's free.

Here's the schedule:

2006_07_arts_summerscreen.gifJuly 25: Do the Right Thing (Spike Lee, 1989) with the Cold Hands Collective

August 1: Bottle Rocket (Wes Anderson, 1996) with the Todd Sickafoose Group

August 8: The French Connection (William Friedkin, 1971) with Todd Reynolds

August 15: The Swimmer (Frank Perry, 1968) with Bora Yoon

August 22: Love Streams (John Cassavetes, 1984) with Elliot Sharp

August 26: Style Wars (Chalfant & Silver, 1983) -- Special Saturday night closing party, with DJ Spooky

Bring an extra thick blanket, that concrete pool can't be too comfortable to sit on for the duration of a feature film.
