Now through the end of July: Summer Clam Bake at Savoy
Savoy is bringing the beach to the city with their three course Summer Clam Bake. Enjoy littleneck clams on the half shell, a traditional boil with lobster, mussels, kielbasa, potatoes, and corn, and finish off with dessert, a peach and blueberry crumble topped with house made buttermilk ice cream. $40 per person, or an extra $15 will give you a bottomless glass of rose. July 22: Bread and Butter
Saxelby Cheesemongers is rallying the troops for this fundraiser to send Dave and Sue Evans, third generation dairy farmers from upstate New York whose certified organic dairy products are well known in the local restaurant community, to Terra Madre 2006, a Slow Food International event. They've recruited local restaurants The Tasting Room, Brown Cafe, Il Laboratorio del Gelato, and Little Giant to transform the Evans creamline milk, yogurt, organic cheese, creme fraiche, and sweet cream butter into a tasting menu designed expressly for th eevent. $20, tickets available online. 2:00-6:00pm at the M'Finda Kalunga Community Garden at Rivington Street between Chrystie and Forsyth. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the M'Finda Kalunga Garden.
July 25: Beer Tasting Dinner at HQ
HQ's Executive Chef/Owner Terrence Cave has created a 5-course menu pairing each course with brews from the Smuttynose Brewing Company. Sip Old Brown Dog Ale with Barbecued Spare Ribs, Curried Coleslaw, Dirty rice, and Corn Bread, and Smuttynose Robust Porter alongside Grilled Pineapple, Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream, Citrus Porter Sauce, and Almond Coconut Brittle. 6-10 PM, 90 Thompson Street, between Spring and Prince Streets.
