Last Night's Action: Yanks Keep On Rolling

2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpg-Yankees 4 Mariners 2: Chien-Ming Wang makes it look easy. Get on the mound, throw sinker after sinker and leave the game after seven or so innings and a lot of ground balls. Monday he won his tenth game of the year as he held Seattle to seven hits and two runs over seven innings while producing nineteen grounders.

An interesting subplot to the evening was Alex Rodriguez’s three errors. A-Rod made three bad throws and went 0-4 at the plate. In the eighth inning he was lifted from the game for Nick Green. There has been no word of an injury, so perhaps this was a case of Joe Torre trying to protect his player? One thing is for sure, with the hypersensitive A-Rod, this game may linger for awhile.

-Brooklyn 6 Vermont 4: Break up the Cyclones who have won seven straight and have made it back to .500

-Staten Island 7 State College 3: The Baby Bombers pounded out thirteen hits in the victory.

In the locker room after the game, A-Rod said that he hurt his toe on a foul ball in the 5th inning and he would have x-rays today.

"I hope it's not broken or anything real serious. You never know with small fractures or stuff like that. We'll see."

Only 1 of his 3 errors occured after the ball hit his toe...
