A Ticket Pricing Trend To Wake Up For

2006_07_15_amc.jpg

It probably says something pretty sad about the cost of living in Nueva York that we're excited about the prospect of paying only $6 bucks to go and see a first run movie, but there you have it. If only we didn't have to get up so early to take advantage of it...

To explain: Starting yesterday AMC decided to give a little Christmas present in July to Manhattan residents. Before noon all movie tickets (children, adult and senior citizen) are now only six smackers. Of course, after noon the prices jump right back up to their normal, higher price.

We think this is a great idea, how long till the other theater chains follow suit?

How about 6 bucks till 5pm like matinee prices in the old days eh?

I know it's in Brooklyn and all, but Cobble Hill Cinemas on Court Street has $6 matinees till 5 during the week, and all day tues and Thurs. Occasionally they won't be able to offer the discount for a particular movie because the studio demands full admission price, but that's pretty rare.
