COMEDY: We just happened to check out the UCB site and found out that God's Pottery is playing tonight! We saw these guys months ago and they made us laugh quite a bit. Go check them out! To give you an idea of what's in store, here's the description: "Christian folk rockers Jeremiah Smallchild and Gideon Lamb are raising money for LaVert, a sick boy they met recently after getting lost in the subway system and ending up in Harlem. Armed only with a guitar, two voices, and a profound desire to make friends with the Youth of today, they aim to change a young boy’s life through the power of song, true belief, and a PowerPoint presentation."

READING: Colin Channer reads from the Jamaican anthology he edited for Akashic, Iron Balloons: Hit Fiction From Jamaica's Calabash Writer's Workshop at the Jamaican Consulate tonight. Set in the Caribbean and the U.S.A., the stories in the collection sweep across a range of moods and genres, a gathering of fascinating voices from a host of talented writers. The reading is followed by drinks and refreshments. - Krissa Courbett Cavouras

THEATER: To make sure you have inexpensive theater options for tonight, tomorrow, andSunday, today we suggest the Summer Play Festival, which challenges movies with its all-$10 tickets, and which in its opening week has Rob Handel's irresistibly titled Millicent Scowlworthy (about two teens who reenact a murder), Alex Moggridge's black comedy The Squirrel, and Splitting Infinity, Jamie Pachino's drama with religio-philosophical undertones. Over the next few weeks, look for a further twelve hard-charging shows in this three-year-old festival of new plays and playwrights. - Mallory Jensen
