-Mets 5 Pirates 0: The game could have ended after the first inning when New York jumped all over Kip Wells for all of their scoring. Jose Reyes led off the game with a triple and scored on Paul LoDuca’s single. The Mets loaded the bases and Jose Valentin doubled home two runs. After a wild pitch scored another run, Endy Chavez singled home the fifth run of the inning.
That was all El Duque needed as he dominated the Pirates, allowing only six baserunners in seven innings and striking out seven. Chad Bradford and Duaner Sanchez pitched the final two innings as the Mets won their fiftieth game of the season.
-Yankees 11 Cleveland 3: George Steinbrenner may have turned 76 yesterday, but he still has some of his fire. After being humiliated by the Indians, the Boss decided to issue the following missive to the world: "Brian Cashman is working hard to improve the team. The responsibility is totally in his hands."
Maybe that’s why Cashman saw fit to sign Aaron Guiel off of waivers from the Royals, a clear indication of how desperate the Yankees are for outfield help. And while Melky Cabrera’s grand slam and great catch, helped to lessen that need, Johnny Damon’s injured oblique casts another cloud over the Yankees outfield which is now missing all three of its’ opening day starters.

It also should be noted that David Wright sat out tonight's game. I think he has only sat out one or two games this season.
As for Brooklyn vs. Staten Island, perhaps "The V-N Series" would be a bit less clunky.
I used to work at the Staten Island Yankee stadium, and I've often heard the Brooklyn/S.I. series called the "Ferry Series," as well as "Battle of the Boroughs"
