NYC Helps Out Flooded Areas

2006_06_rain.jpgThe intense rains and flooding that had been plaguing points north and south hit NYC yesterday. Bouts of pouring rain yesterday evening caused a few disturbances (the FDR was partially closed for a spell), but overall, the rain seemed to help cool things down. And at least the commute wasn't flooded the way it was a couple weeks ago.

Since the city was lucky, our agencies are helping out other areas: Members of the FDNY went upstate to help out towns flooded by the rain, pumping water out of buildings in Binghamton, and police water rescue equipment was sent upstate as well. The Department of Sanitation is also getting involved - 1010WINS says that 50 workers are headed to Delaware County tomorow morning.
