Last Night's Acion: Mets Swept Away

2006_04_smetslogo.jpg-Red Sox 4, Mets 2: Boston completed a three-game sweep of the Mets on Thursday. Aaron Heilman gave up the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, and the Mets were shut down by Curt Schilling. Although many Mets fans may panic, this series in Boston doesn't pose an immediate concern for the club. During the course of a season, teams get swept all the time. Mets fans shouldn't worry simply because their team got swept in a high-profile series against one of baseball's most prominent franchises. Remember, the Yankees got swept by the Royals last year and still won their division. That said, fans shouldn't misjudge the Mets' dominance in the National League as a sign it is head and shoulders above all Major League competition. It'll likely make the playoffs and have as good a chance as any other club. That's all that can be asked.
-Aberdeen 3, Brooklyn 1: At least the Cyclones' struggles have been overshadowed by their parent club's. They've lost eight of nine to start the season, including this most recent lost Thursday at home.
