I was there and I had a blast. The chicken skewers were terrible, but those veggie dog rolls were awesome. Managed to steal a poster on my way out, too.

It's no different than the society pages, really. But I sorta agree... why write about something that wasn't open to the public? That said... I was there and it was a good time. The pulled pork was good, but those chicken skewers were crap. It was kind of funny watching BSS while two dudes beside me ate giant pieces of watermelon.

Pseudo elitist? Pshaw. You just need friends in the right places. I loved the mini pulled pork sandwiches! yummy! and watermelon?!whoa! I just wished I'd nabbed a poster before they were all gone.

I love ya gothamist, but I hate it when blogs like yours post this psuedo elitist "stuff". You guys didn't plug this in the music section, so don't be surprised no one was there. If blogs and the whole indie scene are supposed to be the democratic open thing, then let us regular folks know when these awesome shows take place. Maybe I'm off base, but how is this any different than a celebrity bragging about some private show with Jay-Z.
