Hmmmm....this incident does remind me of an associate of mine that had some similar behavior and the same result, that being death but not with the antics displayed. My associate was in his late 20's and had every reason to live and NEVER showed signs or indications of "off" behavior, drugs, alcohol, despondency, or anything else. It appears the doctors at least have a direction to go in to investigate further.

Message from Seth's family:

We know that many of you are mourning Seth's death and wondering how this could have happened. The news reports have been distressing, and in many cases, completely untrue. We have spoken with friends who were present and believe that most likely a previously undetected medical condition led to his death. Here is what we've learned.

He and his girlfriend, Elektra, were visiting with friends on Monday evening. After about an hour, Seth wanted to leave because he was feeling strong discomfort. He and Elektra walked into the hallway and Seth immediately starting praying aloud for help from God. He then slumped over onto Elektra, seemingly having passed out, but then Seth began displaying erratic and loud behavior. As friends went to get help, Elektra and her cousin, Olivier, went back into the apartment with Seth. While Elektra and Olivier were in the bedroom, they heard glass breaking. When they returned to the living room, they found that Seth had broken through a reinforced double-plated window, falling to his death.

Seth was not drunk, nor was he taking drugs. The investigating officer stated that he might have had a brain aneurysm, which would explain his sudden change in behavior. Medical professionals have suggested the same possibility. An autopsy was performed, including a toxicology screening. We will share the results when the report is released in about six weeks.
According to friends and family, Seth was very pleased with the direction of his life. He and Elektra were happy. He was working in a job that he liked, as well as composing and performing music. He was making plans for the future and was content with his life. He was planning a trip to Milton to visit family in two weeks.

Seth loved life and new adventures. He treasured his many friends and would be pleased with your loyalty, friendship and love. Thank you for the phone calls, emails and the expressions of sadness among yourselves. We thank you for making Seth's life rich and full.

We are confident that Seth is in heaven today. As a Christian, he believed that God loved the world so much that He sent his only son, Jesus Christ, so that whoever believed in Him would not perish but have eternal life. This was a personal belief for Seth. This knowledge gives us great strength and comfort during these difficult days.

Services will be held in Milton, Florida. Specific arrangements are yet to be made.

Instead of wasting time talking about people you do not know, perhaps you should try improving your own lifestyle. You talk about someone sucking at life, and therefore deciding to end it, when you essentially do not know what you are talking about.

I am shocked and saddened by your pathetic comments, and I do not understand why you feel the need to speak badly of the dead. It's disgusting, and I suggest you think twice before doing such dishonorable acts.

You clearly have no compassion nor do you give empathy to those who are suffering from this loss. While you do not know them, the very least that you could do is keep your mouth shut instead of saying such hurtful and untrue things.

Either way, I must agree with the previous post: "I don't know you and more importantly, I would never want to."

Brian, I don't know you and more importantly I would never want to. You are a sick man who spends time judging people whom you have never met. He was "better at life" then you will ever be because you are probably an illiterate guy who has not attended college while he was a Johns Hopkins graduate as well as a talented musician. Next time you feel the need to make a worthless and ignorant comment, think about the victim's family and friends who are following up on these blogs. Now how do you feel?

That might not be the case here brian. Drugs have a powerful influence on even the most level headed of people.

LSD can make you do shit you've never even dreamed of.

i'm willing to bet it was not a reaction marijuana, but the pcp's that laced the marijuana. many street delivery dealers use this to "enhance" their product. making the buyer think they're getting the chronic when they're not.

also, i'm sure this will be the last the news has to report of it as well.

From the Daily News coverage - another clueless parent who thinks her child is a saint:

"I know my son trusted Jesus as his Savior. It was something he believed and lived," Donnie Pitman said from her home in Milton, Fla. "I asked his girlfriend, is it possible someone slipped him a drug? She said no, nothing like that happened.

At least he wasn't one of those hopeless secular kids with no moral bearings. Everyone knows *they* don't know how to deal with life.

A very small percentage of people have an adverse reaction to marijuana where it causes a sort of psychotic break that causes them to behave erratically (one common reaction is jumping out of windows) - likely related to the THC. It's not that common to read about this in scientific press, but there have been several articles about this fairly rare phenonmenon written. It's not neccessarily related to depression, but rather to the adverse reaction of the brain to marijuana.

dhex - I didn't mean cheaper to buy. I meant cheaper in terms of the dealer's expense. For example, they can take old weed with little value and lace it to make it stronger. So, it's cheaper for them to produce what seems like quality pot, but still just as expensive for the buyer. The "cheaper" should have meant "cheaper production costs". I hope that makes more sense as to what I meant, but I could still be wrong...

In the end, this will end up being marijuana's fault.
Unless the autopsy uncovers something else. Still, generally speaking, people who aren't depressed do not jump out of windows, even while stoned.

That's sad. I wonder if the marijuana was laced with anything. I've heard that some dealers will lace it with PCP to make it cheaper and feel stronger.
