sigh... big fan of the lobster roll, but i'm so anti pearl's shoestring fries... i'd almost go so far as to say they ruin the dish for me. ah well. different strokes. :)

If you like your lobster rolls without pretension, mayo, or high prices...head to Jordan's Lobster Dock in Bay Ridge. Last time I was there a juicy roll cost less than $16. Mayo and butter on the side. SO much better than the $25 roll at Pearl.

We haven't inquired about restaurants' lobster procurement procedures...but we are guessing they do what they can to get good lobsters.

Wasn't it just last week that Gothamist was celebrating Whole Food's decision to stop selling live lobsters?
