Planes are No Place for Fight Club

2006_06_jetblue.jpgA couple more details about the rerouting of a JetBlue fight. JetBlue had its midnight flight from Newark to Puerto Rico early Sunday, but it ended up landing at JFK around 1AM:
- The fist fight broke out amongst three female passengers
- The fight broke out 70 miles over the Atlantic
- The FBI is still weighing whether to press charges

Let this be a lesson to everyone: Don't bring your aggro to the flights. The sad thing is that air travel makes everyone a bit jumpy - lack of room, lack of storage space, lack of being able to chat on the cellphone, etc., but the last thing anyone wants is to divert the plane.

CAT FIGHT!!!!

Does the FAA & FBI have any regulations toward multiple cases of PMS on board airplanes?

I believe its a bigger threat then any terrorist.

"flight from Newark to PUERTO RICO"

HAHAHAHAHA

Absolute SHOCKER that this involved Puerto Ricans. Too bad that flight didn't continue and dump that trash back in the dump of an island they come from.

Kojak's been reading too many Cathy cartoons.

Smitty, your comment was hilarious. I'm afraid it will get lost in the shuffle, so I'm calling attention to it now.

How pissed would I be if my travel plans changed because of three jackasses on-board? The only satisfying part would be seeing them get arrested.

Midnight flight to PR, I can imagine the quality of passengers attending that run.

Hey, she got pressure.

If only more men read Cathy comic strips. Then guys wouldn’t have problems figuring women out.

Nice to know the Arm Chair Racists are up and about...

Hi Kevin,
As someone who has recently visited Puerto Rico a month ago, I can tell you it's probably one of the most colorful and coolest islands in the Caribbean. They have forts from the 1500's, crystal clear waters, pretty nice place in my opinion. Big difference between a few rotten apples here in the states and a whole island. Maybe you should open your mind up and try to let some intelligence in.

Steve at The Sneeze has one of his best posts ever about her. http://www.thesneeze.com/mt-archives/000079.php

Um, Jen, the fight happened 70 miles out over the Atlantic. If it happened 70 miles above the Atlantic, all the passengers would be officially astronauts.

Puerto Ricans are proud of three things only: the Puerto Rican Day parade where they get to take over NYC streets with their flags and ignorance, JLo (need I say more?) and bodegas where they can buy potato chips and sugary drinks with their welfare checks to maintain their fat arses.

Seriously, I wish those of you posting these bigoted comments would grow a pair and post your actual name or leave a link to your email-if you don't do that, then it just confirms that you are a pussy.

When, when *when* are you going to get a flagging system on here, Gothamist editors? Or do you find this amusing and entertaining. Maybe you do.

I seriously think New Yorkers (natives and those that come from outside the city and pat themselves on the back for just living here) are some of the most *genuinely* bigoted people I have *ever* met. The people here can be way worse than the ones I grew up with in *Texas*-no question.

I think Gothamist is wary (wisely so) of deleting comments no mater how nefarious the content. Despite that, I think the comment policy needs updating.

The semi anounymous nature of Blogs make it easier for people to be childish Assholes online.

OK...so Kevin has a slightly biased view towards Puerto Ricans. I'm sure everyone is guilty of making a commment at another races' expense here and there at least once in their lifetime. However, being a *Texan* (whatever the heck that means Charles) and living in Puerto Rico for the past 2 years now, I can tell you that Kevins' post isn't exactly off the mark.

About half of the population hiere in Puerto Rico is either claiming welfare, social security or evading income taxes. The majority of them are the RUDEST and most inconsiderate people I have ever met. Yes, as Somer put it, Puerto Rico does have some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to. Too bad they don't appreciate and take care of their natural resources. They dump garbage and human waste all along the roadsides and beaches.

Trust me, if you get a chance to visit Puerto Rico....save your money.

Back to the real issue at hand...if 3 morons re-route an airline because of fighting...I don't care what or who they are, where they are or where they're going. They need to get charged. Too many people's lives and schedules they're screwing up!
