READING: With an almost dizzying lineup of literary stars, LitPAC's Progressive Reading Series fundraiser at Coda this month is going to worth every penny, especially if you appreciate that those pennies are going to the Dem cause. Tonight's series is hosted by Stephen Elliott and features Malcolm Gladwell, (Blink), Sean Wilsey, (Oh, The Glory Of It All), Jonathan Franzen, (The Corrections), Ariel Levy (Female Chauvinist Pigs), and Colson Whitehead (Apex Hides The Hurt). LitPAC suggests buying tickets though ActBlue. While we don't normally pay for our readings here in New York, this one packs enough of an awesome wallop. Keep an eye out for Wednesday's reading, too - it's another great cause. - Krissa Corbett Cavouras
8pm // Coda [34 E. 34th St]// $30
MUSIC: You've gotta have some confidence to put the word "legendary" in to your band name. Go check out The Legendary Pink Dots at Knitting Factory tonight and see if they live up to their name.
Listen: Legacy.mp3
8pm // Knitting Factory [74 Leonard St] // $15
THEATER: Nerve (which we reviewed yesterday) depicts a pretty twisted relationship, but it has nothing on the one in Dennis Kelly's After the End, which is one of the last offerings in this year's Brits off Broadway festival (http://www.britsoffbroadway.com). Loo Brealey and Tom Brooke turn in riveting performances as Louise and Mark, who are holed up in Mark's nuclear fallout shelter after an apparent terrorist attack. As they bond and clash, and their spirits deteriorate, you're forced to question everything -- your own reactions, others' motives, the modern climate of fear in general -- with unforgettable, devastating results. - Mallory Jensen
59E59 Theaters [59 E. 59th St] // Through July 2, Tues.-Sat. 8:15, Sat. 2:15, Sun. 3:15 & 7:15 // Tickets via Ticket Central
