Speaking of lightening up and cutting the fat -- let's lighten the city's budget and do away with the useless borough president positions. Each BP gets $120k+ a year, offices, cars, and a budget to use as a nice slush fund to employ friends and grease palms. Ribbon cuttings, kissing babies, getting free stuff, and that's about all they do. It's not like a real county executive position like outside the city, where a county exec runs the county. We have a mayor for that, and a semi-useful city council (who could also stand to lose a few).
