The great thing about Law & Order is the format works so well regardless of the cast. However, making the show more, um, scenic, only can improve things.

Well, I do think it's novel for Dick Wolf, whose approach has been "if it's not broke, then don't fix it." Now that it's in a Friday night 10PM timeslot, it needs all the help it can get. I suppose the move to hire Dennis came because they knew the audience wanted an eminence grise for Detective Green. But now, it's all fair game.
