Using Brothel Earnings to Pay Off Mortgage

How do you know your brothel is making serious cash? When you can buy a floor of condos at the converted Plaza hotel. At least, that's what prosecutors claim Andrea Schwartz was going to do, as the NYPD's Vice Squad busted a Midtown prostitution ring yesterday. Brazilian-born Schwartz confessed to running the business out of her 100 West 58th Street condo, as well as selling coke to some of her customers. Schwartz and three other women were arrested, and Schwartz was denied bail because she had enough "cash to put together a $350 million deal with Italian investors" to buy residences at the Plaza. Hmm, that does sound like a flight risk.

When undercover cops went to her apartment, they were quoted $1500 for a threesome with two hookers and $700 for sex with one (Schwartz charged more for her services). The Daily News reports that she explained, "All the money I make in prostitution, I put in the bank, and I'm using the money to pay off the mortgage on my place." Well, real estate is a good investment, though the money might be illegal. And even though Schwartz would often bring back new "recruits" from Brazil, her doormen "figured they were probably family."

Schwartz's lawyer says his client is innocent on both prostitution and money laundering charges. The Post says that her clientele features an unnamed "prominent athlete" amongst other wealthy New Yorkers.

You don't buy real estate with illegal money money laundering is way worse than tax evasion. People think you can pay taxes with the illegal money and everything is OK. The government will confiscate everything you own and hit you with money laundering, plus what madam/whore or anybody in a cash business pays taxes on ALL the money they make so they will get the tax evasion charge anyway plus money laundering and of course racketering all for being a dumb whore/madam. They should just quietly rent out a decent place to live and bury there money somewhere and don't give the government one penny of the money and when they quit their illegal business just disapear and live somewhere in another part of the country or the world. She didn't stay under the radar!!!

now how about the literally hundreds of other nyc-based prostitution rings, ie: the asian, the russians, etc.. just look at how thick a Yellow Pages directory for Manhattan is under the word "escorts"..! my guess is that there are well-over 10,000 acts of prostitution every single day in new york, if not more. i still don't understand how the cops do not just simply dis-allow these illegal corporations to operate.. they have banking accounts, credit card vendor systems and lots of unexplained 'taxable' revenue - it just amazes me that one small-time operation like this one is getting so much attention~

Here's a tip for Schwartz: if you're going to plead innocent to prostitution, it probably isn't a great idea to start a statement with ""All the money I make in prostitution...."

Prostitutes need a Pimps for protection + better earning potential. Also if they get out of line, a Pimp has the power to knock her into next week with a swift 5 finger SLAP!

That is how it has worked for thousands of years. Its not perfect but it gets the job done.

Hell, if I sell my OWN body under no pimp or other coercion, and pay my taxes like a good little prostitute, I oughtta be able to buy myself anything I want without raising anyone's eyebrows. But if I sell other people's bodies for them, that's not right.
