Make a Mark

2006_06_arts_vega.jpg

Today marks the 28th annual Museum Mile Festival, aka: the world's largest block party. Just show up, here's what you'll get:

Free access to all the museums along the mile (9 of them! See the list here)
23 car-free blocks (5th Avenue between 82nd & 105th)
Live bands and entertainment
Art-in-the street activities for kids

Our favorite part: "follow the mile with street muralist De La Vega – grab a piece of chalk and make your mark!"

The opening ceremony is at The Metropolitan Museum of Art [5th Ave at 82nd St], at 5:45pm.

This was fun. Needless to say, 3 hours is not enough time to visit all 9 museums. You'd basically have to sprint through the entire festival.

The 23 car-free blocks along 5th Avenue between 82nd & 105th streets were great! PEDESTRIANS RULE!

I missed it entirely, and I work on 5th. The Brazil vs Croatia game was more important.

Maybe Next Year!
