Tidbits

- Have Metrocard, will eat: the Taste of the New York Subway guide is a directory of New York City restaurants within 200 meters of a subway station organized by stop.

2006_06_food_milkshakes.jpg- Clinton Street Bakery is now serving some scrumptious-sounding milkshakes made with ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory: chocolate raspberry, fresh banana, peach melba, white grasshopper, or toffee coffee, all served with fresh whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. Drool.

- eGullet founder Jason Perlow has been busy with the podcasts this week. You can find an interview with Nina Planck and her Real Food markets, as well as one with Eddie Schoenfeld, of the newly-opened Chinatown Brasserie on Off The Broiler.

- Word on the street is that Bulgarian bar Mehanata will reopen tonight at its new location: 113 Ludlow Street.

- Poor little E.U. is still fighting to get its liquor license. Seems like they're losing.

\"...within 200 meters of a subway station\"??? What\'s a meter? I know every one here knows what a meter is, but keep you audience in mind. New York, NY, USA. We use feet and inches here.

Not to mention, the subway guide skips CANAL STREET on the N/R/Q/W and 6 lines! I guess they were daunted by having to enter links for 5 gazillion restaurants.

Mehanata actually opened last night...with Eugene Hutz from Gogol Bordello DJing.

Yes hello, where can I find this \"Clinton Street Bakery\" I am reading about? Indeed
