Last Night's Action: Yanks Take A Walk On the Wild Side

-Yankees 2 Boston 1: No Matsui, Sheffield or Jeter; no problem. You may think the Yankees’ offense isn’t what it used to be, but it still can draw a key walk or get a key hit to provide the win. Tuesday, it was Jason Giambi who walked with the bases loaded to provide the winning run.

While the offense provided just enough, the game would not have been won without Melky Cabrera. Cabrera, who looked lost last year; has been a savior for the team, getting on base and flashing some leather in the field. Tuesday, Cabrera made a great catch to preserve the Yankees’ lead and prevent Manny Ramirez from beating New York again.

-Dodgers 8 Mets 5: On 6/6/06, it was the sixth inning that was the Mets' undoing. Matt Kemp homered to give the Dodgers the lead and then Jose Valentin made a key error. Heath Bell came in, but another Valentin error opened the floodgates and when the sixth was over, the Dodgers had scored six runs. The Mets loaded the bases with no one out in the seventh and scored two runs, but Endy Chavez grounded out, Jose Valentin popped out and Lastings Milledge struck out to end the rally.
