If you see a Lexus hybrid cab, hail it and see if Cliff Adler is driving. He was just named the city's safest cabby by All State Insurance. And to celebrate, All State is footing the fare for anyone who hail him for the week. Adler's driving records has been spotless for the 32 years he's been driving - amazing when you think about it. (He also received a $2,500 check from All State - we're not sure if that covers the fares or if that's just a nice prize.) Since Adler drives one of the two Lexus hybrids cabs in the city, it should be relatively easy to pick him out. But don't forget to tip!

Hybrid Taxis are the wave of the future - specifically the New Camry Hybrid will become very popular as the replacement to the Crown Vic. It gets more than double the gas mileage and is just about as spacious. The Prius would be even better on mileage, but I suspect it's too small for NYC. In Europe, they already use cabs the size of the Prius.
