- Al di La, Tocqueville and The Red Cat are the latest videos to hit Savory New York.
- If you have never tasted the magic that is DiFara's, you certainly will after this entry from eGullet's Jason Perlow, complete with video footage.
- Could it be true that our beloved Snack Dragon is closing? Say it ain't so!
- MUG shows some love to the food writers, complete with a snapshot of Mr. Bruni himself.
-Peter Meehan did not show some love to Ditch Plains this week: "For every pleasure at Ditch Plains there are too many odd details that beg questions. Why this glass for this wine? Why these fries with this burger? Why fry clam strips instead of whole belly clams? What's so hard about making whipped cream?" We hear ya. Next time, be sure to get the chicken liver mousse -- it just might make you forget about the $23 you're paying for the lobster roll.
- We were very excited to hear that we don't have to mail order our spices from Penzey's anymore; they've now got a home in Grand Central Market.

Excellent about Penzey's in Grand Central. I'm curious if anyone has compared their spices to The Spice House out of Chicago, since the Spice House founder is the daughter of the Penzey's.
With all the blogging about Bruni's weekly reviews, this is actually the first time i've ever seen his photo... IS IT LEGAL???
*...it just might make you forget about the $23 you're paying for the lobster roll.*
having worked in many many beach resort restaurants on the eastern seaboard throughout college, I learned some valuable lessons about the restaurant world. Just because the menu or the waiter say it's "all natural lobster" (in terms of lobster rolls), what they're not telling you is that the only way for the resaturant to make a profit off of the rolls themselves is to serve canned lobster meat. they can charge $50 a roll and it's still canned meat. yes it's real, but canned meat is not nearly as good as freshly caught that morning.
re: snack dragon, a friend of the owner said that she was "shut down" by the city.
I know the answer, but still need to ask WTF is going on with this city lately?
The Snack Dragon is definitely no more. They tore it down on Tuesday.
Waaaahhh!
eater (the sister site to curbed.com) said snack dragon is moving across the street to the old NYC icy storefront.
Let's hope eater is wrong. "snack dragon" is a piss poor example of mexican food.
