Using Credit Cards of a Dead Man

2006_05_surveilcamera.jpgSurveillances cameras captured images of men using credits cards belonging to a 25 year old found beaten to death in Chelsea last week. Thomas Whitney had been found on West 19th Street and Sixth Avenue, and police were stumped as to what happened to prevent Whitney from going home to Hoboken after a night at the Spy Bar. Witnesses say Whitney argued with some men outside Spy Bar, got punched in the face, and had his wallet taken. As it happens, Whitney had been in a 2005 brawl outside a Manhattan bar. The men on tape were seen using the cards to buy clothing, sneakers and gas in Washington Heights and Queens. The police aren't calling them suspects yet and just want them to come forward; the police are also offering a a $12,000 reward.

The security camera pictured above is fake (even though it has batteries, a light, a motor, and a motion sensor). So if you see one "watching" you in the city, you need not hesitate to use some stolen credit cards in the vicinity.

My civil rights were just violated!
