Bouncing Bundle of Brangelina (and Tabloid) Joy

2006_05_brangelina.jpgAh, there's nothing like coming on a Saturday night and to be treated to a CNN Breaking News alert that Angelina Jolie had given birth to her child with Brad Pitt. (We'll wonder why no one called or text messaged us later.) Baby daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt was born in Namibia, and already, there's speculation about what Shiloh means ("personal appellation for Christ", "his gift" or "he who was sent", the Civil War town). Whatever - it's no Moxie Crimefighter or Pilot Inspektor. People.com has it's Baby Shiloh Arrives! site up and ready, although it's just packages of previous Angelina-n-Brad -n-Maddox -n-Zahara photos - which Gothamist cannot get enough of, we hate to admit. The next waiting game: To see which tabloid - and how much - was paid for the baby pictures - remember when New York magazine sorta punked people with their cover story about Brangelina baby pictures (just the bidding war)?

The United Nations High Commisioner for Refugees is Angelina's pet cause; here's her UNHCR ambassador site.

Goodness, but the tabloids are dense. The name Shiloh just means Brangelina are avid Neil Diamond fans! ;-)

BTW, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "nouvel" a masculine adjective? I thought the feminine form was "nouvelle." Then again, since they gave their daughter a masculine name, I guess that fits. Shiloh Nouvel - "The new he who was sent?" Great name for a girl.

'Pilot Inspektor' I knew about but 'Moxie Crimefighter?'
That's the first thing Teller thinks of when naming his kid, whether they'll get pulled over by a cop? Genius.
How about on a college application, that's gonna go over real well.

If Teller had a little more insight, a more appropriate name would have been 'Therapy MoneyPit.'

- Are Pitt/Jolie going to have their kid declared a Namibian citizen?
- Will Jolie and Pitt be happy when they travel when their kid does not have all the protections of an American Citizen?
- Will they instead bother the US consulate/embassy and declare the kid an American citizen born overseas?
- Did they have all sorts of western medical equipment and expertise involved or did they have the kid like most Namibians do?
- Do most countries allow tourists to have kids inside their boundaries, preplanned and not in an emergency?

These are questions of utmost importance for the peace and well being of the world and I demand answers! We must all... wait, I need to yawn.

What were we talking about, again?

Oh and Jen, you are totally out of touch with the news if you didn't know Angelina sold the exclusive rights to her baby photos for £2.6 million and is donating it all to UNICEF.

That is ten-day-old news already.

I knew there were rumors of them selling the baby pic rights for $5 million, but did US Weekly secure them? Or People or OK or whatever?

I love you all dearly, but what is the connection to gotham again?

I think they make a cute couple.

For anyone who cares (including the writer of this piece)...Shiloh means "peaceful" in Hebrew, and is a Biblical name (a town in Israel in the O.T.). How do I know? That's m'name!

Sorry but Shiloh is a fictional beagle.
Haven't you people read the Shiloh trilogy by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor? The heartwarming story of Marty & how he earns Shiloh a lovely little beagle who belongs to mean & nasty Judd Travers.

Ilsem , in the Shiloh trilogy , Shilih the beagle is named after the Hebrew word for peaceful , that is : Shiloh .. I'm pretty sure Hebrew was here long before the Shiloh trilogy
