Professional golf is coming to Manhattan. Of course, it's on Governor's Island, only 9 holes, and it's a pro-am tournament which will feature professional women and Hollywood actors. The tournament, dubbed The Manhattan Golf Classic and scheduled for October 22nd, will be on the only golf course in all of Manhattan. Scenes from the tournament will surely be beautiful. With the historic buildings on the island, the Brooklyn and the Manhattan skyline as backdrops, the statue of liberty, and the sun setting? It seems like a producer's dream. The pros signed up to appear are Annika Sorenstam, Natalie Gulbis, and Hank Haney while the celebrities are Bruce McGill, Dennis Quaid, and Craig T. Nelson (Coach!!). The course is being leased for a mere $75,000 from the Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation, but Newsday reports that the organizers already have $2 million in advertising lined up.
For those of you who love sports radio, don't forget to tune into the Mets radio broadcast on WFAN (660 on your AM dials or stream it on your computers from their website Fox Sports 980) for this afternoon's game against the Phillies. Mike Francesa and Chris "Mad Dog" Russo are calling the game. Yesterday on their radio program, the pair wondered why WFAN even agreed to it and joked that Francesa talking about Scott Kazmir the whole game. Mad Dog will be on play-by-play for most of the game, while Francessa will be the color man. What's the over/under on how long it takes Doggie to lose his voice? Game time is scheduled for 1:10.

WFAN's Mets game broadcasts are blacked out online (as per MLB rules--they sell it for a subscription and you can't listen to local teams if you did pay) but www.foxsports980.com always forgets to block it.
totally forgot about that. thanks for the tip.
Where on the page can you find the link to listen?
i've added the link from booey. on that site, there's a "listen live" image on the top right of the page.
hahaha, so weird! i've always wondered what it would be like to hear them call a game. dog hates the mets (not as much as the yankees) and chris is pretty impartial for a yankee fan... I wonder if dog will make any rants on bad plays. this is great!
got it forget thanks
i'm listening to it, and it's great. but i think they are really excitable. granted, there's been a lot of action. i think they just have to pace themselves.
i kinda like it that theyre "going at it as hard as thy can" ;)
surprisingly decent. they sure beat tom mccarthey.
