Balloon Practice Complete-- No Deaths Reported

2006_5_pikachu1.jpg

It's November in May...or something. DailySnapshots went up to Times Square to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade practice. NY1 is reporting that traffic was snarled all over Midtown for most of the morning because of it. The exercise was intended to avoid the tourist-maiming incidents that have occurred in years past. But what will Pikachu do without his semi-annual blood sacrifice? Only time will tell!

I don't see why they couldn't have done this on a weekend or during the overnight hours when it would be less disruptive to traffic.

What a lame excuse for a publicity stunt. There is zero reason other than PR for them to ahve NOT done this 'test' in the middle of the night or on a sunday morning when all forms of traffic are traditionally lighter.

Who the heck watches Parades anyway? All parades are just a worthless disruption that should be banned.

I think the balloon had to be tested during the day to accurately mimic parade conditions, one of the biggest being daylight so handlers can see. And while this is probably a big show for the OEM to prove it is concerned, I am a sucker for Pikachu in the morning.
