A drunk driver crashed into a bus at Ditmars and 47th Street in Astoria early this morning. WABC 7 reports that the "force of the crash pushed the Jeep onto the front lawn of a house and into a small tree." Jeez. Fourteen people were injured, including the driver of the Jeep (she was charged with DWI), but most of the injuries seemed minor. One Astoria resident tells us that it seems like one in every five cars is revving their engines, driving through red lights...not that the Q19 bus drivers aren't that much better.

i have to agree with my fellow Astorian -- i almost got mowed down just this morning while walking to the N/W. this maniac driver blew right through a red light at 36th street, narrowly missing an accident with another car at the intersection, and then almost hitting me.
what's left of the jeep is on 35th st. between the two sides of Astoria Blvd. would have taken pics but i didn't have my camera when i passed. jeep got crushed good.
