At least, that's what reader Evan wonders. He sent us some pictures of a Toyota 4 Runner parked with an "open letter to the city" parked convenientaly just a block or two from City Hall. Evan writes, "Apparently New York Methodist Hospital implanted a foreign body in the owner of this vehicle; now the 'man' is trying to bring him and his 10 year old daughter down." Well, there's nothing like taking a message to the streets. And not only is the letter taped to the car, medical documents are taped near it also (so if it's performance art, it's pretty authentic-looking).

This car has been parked all over the Slope; in fact, I saw them get pulled over this morning on Flatbush near the Bergen St 2/3. The driver was shouting something about how they were allowed to park/turn anywhere they wanted to before 10 am. Interesting to see they've moved it to Manhattan.
when I worked for the largest for-profit American organization for physicians, we'd get bags full of letters like this all the time. my point being, there are more crazy people in this country than you could ever imagine. most of them live in California and Florida, but all of them love to make their "concerns" known! and we can all thank Ronald Reagan for allowing them to stew in their nutty heads unaided.
I'd say it's very likely that that's a letter written by someone with Chronic Paranoid Schizophrenia. As they say, being psychotic is not grounds for being locked up, so long as you are not a danger to yourself or others. There are similar letters (a bit more florid, actually) taped up on the pedestrian bridge between Roosevelt Island and LIC. I posted one of these on my blog a little while ago - you can see it here:

Gothamist - can you provide a link with closeups of the 'medical documents'? I'd love to take a looksie.
I used to work at a museum in the city and we received many letters from a woman who insisted there was a energy vortex hovering over the Hudson. She even included pictures as "proof."
all of it is true! even the part about the hudson, cold fusion, and Xenu!

That car was parked on Clinton Ave. near Gates last Friday evening.
