Gothamist is just being cutting edge in terms of usage. They always pioneer new ways of butchering the English language. And look, the New York Times is finally following Gothamist's lead! Just look at the first sentence in the article: "All cities takes a toll..."

As for these cubicles, why would I need one when I have one at home? Okay, not so many books and the broadband isn't quite so broad since this is the US, but still enough for me to OD if I want to, and the library's just down the street.

Dear Gothamist--
I love you, but I must clarify that the world that 'wherefore' is more analogous to the contemporary 'why' than to 'where.' Juliet, for instance, in asking 'Wherefore art thou Romeo?' does not inquire as to his location, but rather laments his surname, Montague. Recall that whole family feud business going on...

Snarkily yours,
Jonathan

You know that "wherefor" really means "why", right? When Juliet asks "Wherefore art thou Romeo", she is _not_ looking for him in the garden (and he is not likely to pop up, a la Buckwheat, saying "Here I is!"). She is instead rhetorically asking the universe "Out of all the boys I could fall in love with, WHY did it have to be Romeo?"
