Red Hook Ballfields

RedHookBallfields_5-14-06.jpg

Now that the warm weather has arrived for the year, it is time for Gothamist to start planning trips to the Red Hook ballfields to watch soccer, and more importantly sample all the different food booths that set up camp every weekend from no(t)w till the late Fall.

With food from a multitude of Latino countries, with excellent examples of tacos, pupusas, skewers, empanadas, and tamales, this outdoor ethnic food bazaar is one stop shopping for all the missing voids NYC has for killer street food.

Since we have only been a few times, we will provide numerous links below to assist you in planning your trip.

If it weren't for all them damn mexicans, Red Hook ballfields would be a great place to play. But damn, every goddamn day they are barbecuing in the ballfields! It's a soccer field and they are barbecuing cause it's got grass!!!!! That's so goddamn ghetto.

from not till the late Fall.

Honestly, who the fuck copy edits these posts?

The Ballfields and all the festivities that surround them are really great. But Parks and Recreation needs to do a MUCH better job enforcing the litter laws out there. From Monday till about Wednesday those fields are unuseable. There needs to be more garbage cans, cans that close and can't be knocked over, and there needs to me signs, in English and Spanish, telling people to make sure their litter is disposed of properly. And the NYPD needs to be out there issuing fines until people get the message.
