Church no Longer Terrestrial

2006_05_sirius.jpgNot to be outdone by Opie & Anthony, the Archdiocese of New York has signed a deal with SIRIUS to start The Catholic Channel. Launching in the fall, the channel will carry daily Mass from St. Patrick's as well as "feature a modern format with an open dialogue focused on Catholicism in the 21st Century." No news on whether it will cover topics such as marriage for the clergy, homosexuality, and whether HIV can spread through condoms.

Gothamist is just curious as to any synergies that can be exploited between the new channel and SIRIUS' flagship product - Howard Stern. Perhaps some cross promotion? Porn stars at St. Patrick's? Strippers in the pulpit? The possibilities are endless! We also didn't see which number on the dial The Catholic Channel will be on; it doesn't look like there's space between Radio Disney and Kids Stuff.

Nice Tien. Its always great to ridicule that which brings comfort to others. Jerk.

Catholicism is also the religion that protected child-molesting Priests. Comfort? Only to pedophiles.

Way to support a Pedo-loving church, Sirius.

Is it just me, or is it like Day-Release Day at the Gotham Home for Trolls and Bedbugs?

Between these posts and the one on the bikes...
...and the ones on the Atlantic Yards...
...and the one on that poor Queens kid...
...and the one on the missing Columbia student...
... it's like hands up and step away from the keyboard.

People, c'mon, huh? If you know how to get on the internet, you're probably smarter than that...

yes, hear hear, FDR! how dare he make light of the Good Works of Howard Stern. for he, too, brings me great comfort.

They have to appease the bible-thumpers somehow.

That’s a big chunk of the market right there. They can’t just go after the crowd that wants uncensored shock radio and ignore the holyrollers all together.

Kojak, I wouldn't lump the Roman Catholics in with the Protestant fundametalists. They are quite different and even use diffferent editons of the Bible for their thumping.

One good thing about the Roman Catholics is that they aren't running scams like most "Christian" broadcasters.

I spoke too soon as I have found a nun doing some sort of home shopping show on the Roman Catholic TV channel. Talk about money changers in the temple. Some of the stuff is real kitsch.

Wasn't it sex in St. Patrick's that got Opie and Anthony kicked off the air in the first place??

Or do I have my no-talent morons mixed up?

"One good thing about the Roman Catholics is that they aren't running scams like most "Christian" broadcasters."

Agreed
