The Empire Strikes Back

2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpgWas that a big hit? Can we think of A-Rod as a “real Yankee” now? Maybe this will spare him from being booed in the first inning of tonight’s game. Nah, it probably won’t, but let’s give A-Rod credit for hitting a big home run last night that propelled the Yankees to a 7-3 victory.

A-Rod wasn’t the only Yankee to batter Curt Schilling. Jason Giambi and Jorge Posada both connected for home runs part of New York’s eight hits off of the Boston ace. Mike Mussina recovered from giving up two home runs of his own to become the first American League pitcher to win six games.

Shawn Chacon takes the mound tonight against Tim Wakefield in the rubber-match of the series. Chacon has pitched well of late and the Yankees will be looking to him to get them back into sole-possession of first place.
