Few things can take the luster off a dominant road win in game one of a conference semi-finals. But that's what Richard Jefferson's ankle sprain did to the Nets' 100-88 win over Miami Monday. New Jersey came out flying and only looked back during a late fourth quarter run by Miami. Gothamist only worries about Jefferson's ankle, which did not reveal anything more than a sprain in the x-rays, according to 1130AM. (As an aside, why do the Nets get bumped from WFAN, their normal home, and not the Devils? Don't more people care about basketball than hockey?) With their forward's status up in the air for the rest of the series, so is the Nets' fate.
Gothamist could hardly believe its eyes watching Monday, especially during the first half. Blistering shooting and a balanced attack (thanks, Jason Kidd for scoring!) propelled the Nets to a comfortable margin, and they set it on cruise control from there. With game one in the bag, the Nets will play with house money on the road in game two. Miami will rebound, but the Nets' game one performance hints at a long series. The convincing win was a surprise, but the Nets' hanging around won't stun anyone.

I'm worried about RJ. Now that the Nets won't interfere wtih Veronica Mars, I can say that I'd like to see the Nets go as far as possible. I don't think they'd be able to beat the Spurs, and who knows what Dwayne Wade will do in the rest of this serise, but it'd be nice to have a team do well.
the nets did beat the heat in the season series... (casually ignoring that shaq didn't play in most of those)
I want the Nets to loose the rest of their games. Bruce Ratner deserves no less.
