The last time I was in NYC, I went to the Greenwich Brewing Company at 11:15am on a Sunday to have lunch and the door was locked....I got the attention of a waitress inside and asked her through the door what time they were going to open....she rudely turned around and didn't answer me. I stood there until 11:30am and the waitress refused my attempts to find out what time they opened, so I finally left.

Good riddance, rude bastards.

Formerly Greenwich Brewing Company, the doorway at 418 Sixth Avenue once led to TRUDE HELLER'S, a club that inspired West 9th Street resident Hilly Cristal [who was then driving a truck for a living] to open his CBGB on the Bowery. :-D Ever wonder why 418 Sixth Avenue has such a curious catercorner doorway? Reason: when this apartment house was built in 1901, the Greenwich Savings Bank was on the first floor. On Sunday August 20th, 2006 I will be giving a tour in Gr Village: first stop VILLAGE Restaurant, 62 West 9th Street. http://MaeWest.blogspot.com

Dave's Potbelly on Christopher Street. Was sad to see that place go.

Also, is the Beatrice Inn, across the street from Caffe Rosso, still there? I'd heard the owner was selling. Great red-sauce joint.
