Mayor Bloomberg and the Great City Hall Elevator

City Hall is getting $16.1 million for upgrading the building. The NY Post claims the cost was "hidden" in the $56.1 billion budget, but let's face it, making City Hall more bearable is probably something the City Council wants too. However, we did get a kick out of why the city will spend $2 million to fix the elevator: "The lift is showing its age, with peeling paint, torturously slow speeds and breakdowns so frequent that barely anyone in the historic building stirs when the alarm goes off." For $2 million, that puppy should be glass and be able to go this way and that, but it's probably all about not getting stuck with colleagues you hate.
