Upcoming

Happy Cinco de Mayo...while you're not eating guacamole, sipping on frozen margs and taking a whack at a Sparks filled pinata...you may want to do one of the following this weekend:

THEATER: If you want to get out and see a little of the city in a way you haven't before, but the Shorewalkers Great Saunter on Sunday is too sedate for you, check out Accomplice: New York, which is three hours of hybrid walking tour/interactive theater in lower Manhattan. Don't let the title and that description call to mind the half-baked murder mystery games people sometimes cook up for parties -- this is a slick, lean production with plenty of adrenaline, both from the role you take in the show's clever unfolding plot, and from the totally different experience you get of New York's peerless streets as you race around.

Fridays through Sundays, beginning on the half hour between 1-5pm // Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling 212-242-1524, at which point you find out where it starts

MUSIC: Visually and sonically stimulating, museums with music are so perfect together. The Whitney is having their first Whitney Live series of the season tonight. Experiemental sound pioneers Matmos will be blowing your mind with their creative melody making ways.

Friday // 7pm // Lower Gallery, Whitney Museum [945 Madison Ave] // Free

2006_05_artsschwartz.jpgPANEL: Tonight is the Breaking the Band discussion we mentioned a while back, with speakers Alexandra Patsavas and Josh Scwartz. The two are responsible for putting bands like The Walkmen on prime time soap opera The OC, whether we like it or not. Find out how bands break through tv and film...and if you're in one, bring some cd's and tell them you're totally the next Arcade Fire.

Friday // 7pm // Tribeca Performing Arts Center [199 Chambers St] // $20

MARCH: We're sure the cops will be all over the Global Marijuana March tomorrow, so leave your dimebags at home. If you believe in the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes, however, be there to do some walking and rallying. The day includes a forum, a free speach rally and a march to Battery Park followed by a festival.

Saturday // 11am // Various Points in SoHo, starting at Mercer and Washington Streets // Free
