Next week, the James Beard Foundation will present its annual awards -- Sunday for journalism and Monday for excellence in the culinary industry. It'll be tough to get in, but we'll share the winners with you next week. More information on their website.
May 9: Tabla at ICE
Tabla's executive chef Floyd Cardoz will lead a cooking demonstration and tasting of favorite homestyle Indian and Indian-inflected New American dishes from Tabla and Bread Bar, 1–3 PM; $40 at Institute of Culinary Education, 50 W. 23rd Street, 212-847-0770.
May 10: Taste of the Nation
Share Our Strength invites you to fight hunger at Taste of the Nation. More than 50 restaurants are stepping up for the cause, sharing some of their finest dishes at this annual benefit. 7:30–10:30 PM; $250 general admission, $375 VIP admission includes 6:30 PM entry; Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W. 18th St.; 1-877-26-TASTE.
