Map of the Day: Dr. Vino Wine Bars

2006_5_drvinomap2.jpg

Dr. Vino put together a good map of New York Wine Bars-- the red dots are favorites, and the green ones are newly reviewed. The Doc also includes a few words of warning: "In NYC, it's getting easier and easier to find good wine bars but often they are packed! Don't forget: wine by the glass is a huge rip-off!" [Related: we've seen a bunch of booze maps before-- including Dr. Vino's wine shop map.]

Does anyone know of a Google map that has all types of nightlife on it? Like a cross between Citysearch and Google maps. Much appreciated.

Havent been out too much in the city lately, so i dont know if this has become a standard, but Grammercy Taverns half glass option was excellent. It allowed for many more tastings/pairings than i would have been able to sustain otherwise.

  • nothing likke giving up a hidden treasure. however, in vino is one of the better italian wine bars in nyc.

  • In my experience at least, I've found that wines by the glass in NYC bars/wine bars are a great deal. You're paying $7-$12 on average and you get a big pour, almost equal to two glasses if the wine is served in a little decanter as I've been seeing a lot lately. Sure, if you did an exact conversion you may be a few dollars behind the bottle cost, but on the other hand you are getting to taste a few different wines.
