Jinx Debates

Every so often we attend the monthly Jinx Magazine debates. They are right near our apartment and sometimes...sometimes...we even learn something at them. The debate is held in the basement at Lolita, a rather uncomfortable atmosphere for the event - but a rather enjoyable spot to grab a drink. Drinking debaters are more fun to watch, thus the appeal of this event.

This month brings a hot topic to the table: "Is Immigration Harming the United States?" John Carney and Michele Carlo verbally duke it out (with Michel Evanchik moderating and Todd Seavey hosting).

And if YOU have a topic you would like to debate, come to the event and you are welcome to suggest it - you may just be the next one up on the debate floor. On a somewhat related note, shouldn't there be a debate team themed movie out soon? Sort of like Bring it On, Stick It and Akeelah and the Bee.

That indie movie Thumbsucker with Tilda Swinton, Vince Vaughan and Keanu Reeves featured a lot of scenes of the title character at debate competitions.
