My 9 Migraine

2006_05_my9.pngGothamist understands that it's great for sports fans to see a hometown team in the playoffs. And we love Vince Carter. But WWORTV 9 aka, "My 9," is seriously killing us during the end of the traditional TV season by screwing over us Veronica Mars fans. With three episodes to go, My9 pre-empted VM for a Nets playoff game last week. Instead of replaying VM after America's Next Top Model on Wednesday (and this is after shuffling VM between the Tuesday at 9pm and Wedensday at 9PM slots), it was just more Top Model, and Gothamist had to wait ages until Sunday for the episode. Sure, sure, we could have looked for the episode somewhere online, and we'll probably have do that tonight, but we're still pissed.

And the NY Times has two timely articles: One about the "The CW" (Veronica Mars might get picked up again) and another about how everything is "My this..." or "My that...". Whatever, we just wanna 86 My 9.

Ugh. Screw UPN for doing this.

Thanks Gothamist for showing your support for the best show on television!

Not only did they put it off until Sunday - when they DID show it they started it early (by about 2 minutes!) so those of us who taped it missed a pretty major reveal. Thankfully Television Without Pity has very thorough recaps!

It is not UPN who is screwing us it is Rupert Murdoch who illegally owns WWOR (he has a special exemption on ownership from the FCC, wonder how he got that?) in combination with Bruce Ratner. True UPN made the shift to Tuesdays, but most UPN affilliates don't have grown men in their underwear playing a stupid children's game pre-empting quality television. I hate the Nets for wanting destroying viable neighbrohoods in Brooklyn (and convincing Marty Markowitz they are the second comming of the Dodgers by trying to build their evil arena complex on the site where it was proposed the Brooklyn Dodgers could build a new stadium) and I am hating the Nets even more because of this nonsense pre-empting.

The Sunday airing of the show at 7PM, which was pre-empted for infomercials for a few weeks (they wound up airing it at 11PM), is a normal thing and actually appears on real UPN affiliates not owned by evil right wing Austrailans.

LOOSE NETS LOOSE!
AND STAY IN THE SWAMPS OF NEW JERSEY!

did you happen to notice the startling similarity this "My" campaign shares with the National Hockey League. It's like an ad agency thought, 'hey, the nhl is an unpopular sports league, just like UPN is for TV. Let's copy their campaign!'

If any fans want to contact the station directly to complain (and why not? They should be as hassled and inconvenienced as we are!), their direct line is:

(201) 348-0009.

Their office hours are 9-5.

When you telephone them, make sure to tell them that for the foreseable future you will not be watching their station or sister station Fox 5 except for Veronica Mars and not be buying the New York Post.
Here is a list of some other stuff Rupert owns:

And they did it again tonight! And didn't announce when the new episode would actually be aired! Argh. The show isn't yet renewed for next season--is WWOR trying to kill it? (Also: Are they trying to kill me? I want to know the truth about the murder of Lilly Kane already!)

The only indication I saw that there would be a stupid evil Nets game was a promo for it I saw on YES while channel surfing the other day.

I'm actually behind on VM by a few weeks. I thought the murder of Lilly Kane was wrapped up. You're telling me there are new twists?

Did any of you guys see Kristin Bell's Fifty Pills at Tribeca? I may stand in line for door seats on Saturday.

From what I have heard from someone in another TV market there is a verdict in the Aaron Echolls' trial along with some other major developments. Curse you Rupert Murdoch, curse you Bruce Ratner!

Yay for more people being Veronica Mars fans, but it is crap what UPN is doing. It especially must be hurting the ratings right when VM needs them the most. If it was a team that I followed maybe it would annoy me a little less, but seeing as how I wish the Nets would get lost already, this sucks.

Screw "My 9"! I am so glad I won't have to watch their shitty network after VM moves to THE CW!

VM is one of the very few critically acclaimed shows they have and this is how they treat it!

This show is arc-base and so major developments happen all the time and this waiting till Sunday crap is killing me!

Alliterator: The blame should be directed at a spiteful Rupert Murdoch, who felt he got hosed in the creation of the CW. The "my" network was created by his minions to fill the programming gap lost by the UPN-WB merger into the CW. Rupert an his minions do not care about the UPN shows, as any viewers that they have will follow them to the new CW network. By all rights, Rupert should not even own WWOR, but he does thanks to a special waiver granted by his right wing cronies in the Cheney administration, um... I mean Bush administration as a reward for being the Republican Goebbels.

What theather is "Fifty Pills" Playing in ?
I

The remaining Fifty Pills screenings are:

Thu, May 4 / 11:45 pm
AMC Loews 34th Street 14

Sat, May 6 / 1:00 pm
AMC Loews Village VII 1

They're both sold out, so you have to get there early and stand in the "door sales" line.

I'm pretty pissed that there was NO Veronica Mars last night. I thought they would repeat it today, but I checked the TV guide and it's going to be "Everybody Hates Chris". How annoying! There's only one more episode after this too.
